Grant Wood AEA In Cedar Rapids June 2008 Flood

Grant Wood AEA's main office is closed due to flooding in Cedar Rapids. Although the one foot of muddy water in our building has caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage, we are fortunate compared to many others. Many businesses and homes will be total losses. Several Grant Wood AEA staff had houses in the flooded areas.

Flood waters receded Saturday, June 14 and Grant Wood administration had a disaster recovery company hired by Sunday evening. They started removing carpet at 7:30 Monday morning. We have relocated all first floor staff to our 33rd street facility or other locations. The media center and printshop will be set up in "cleaned areas" of our building for "limited services" by mid-July.

We hope to have second floor staff back in our building during August and first floor staff back in October. Servers and phones are now working.
