IEC Staff Members Research Newest Technology

Florida Education and Technology Conference held in Orlando, in January 2009.  What was the weather like in Iowa during that time period? Record setting temperatures –Below Zero, and Worse, wind chill factors that were -50 degrees!

Yes, IEC staff, Jerry Cochrane and Bud Carruthers, were looking forward to visiting sunny Florida, even if they were working!  The IEC staff is dedicated to making sure our customers are getting the newest technologies and the highest quality products at low prices!

They flew into Orlando knowing what kind of weather they had left behind, they just didn’t know that they would be arriving and experience the coldest 3 days in Orlando since 2001!

With over 3,000 attendees, a Keynote speaker who is the son of Jan and Philippe Cousteau Sr., and the grandson of Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and a conference exhibit area showing and announcing many new and existing products seemed to heat things up a bit.

Philippe Cousteau shared stories about his family's legacy as a leader in environmental conservation and education and how it has evolved over time. He discussed how this legacy can be shared by all professional educators to engage a whole new generation of environmental leaders to restore and protect our oceans.

Touring the conference exhibit hall with 500+ exhibitors was an exciting event but after the 3rd day turned into an exhausting experience. Because the attendance was down a little Bud and Jerry were able to stop in and spend some quality time with vendors. They met several vendors that the IEC is currently work with in some of the current IEC purchasing programs. They were also able to introduce themselves to new vendors or manufacturer representatives and that may open up new relationships and create purchasing opportunities for Iowa’s IEC customers.
