Verizon Wireless recently merged with Alltel Wireless, however, customers billed through Alltel are not eligible for the Verizon discount.  Alltel accounts are being transitioned to Verizon Wireless.  When you start receiving billing from Verizon, you may try again for the discount (hopefully 3rd or 4th quarter of 2009).

Discount eligibility and guidelines:

•  Your Verizon account must be in the public employee's name who is applying for the discount* 
• The discount only applies to account plans of $34.99 or more.  
• For a Family Share Plan the discount only applies to the account primary phone

*If you need to change the primary on your Verizon Wireless account, please contact the Assumption of Liability team at (888) 832-4540 or connect via your Verizon phone with *611 (free air time) 

How to Register for your Discount:
Best way: Stop in at any Verizon Wireless store near you and sign up.

If you prefer online registration, go to:  
www.VerizonWireless.com/discount
1.  Enter zip code (If you are routed to Alltell or an error page, use your browser back button to go back to the previous page.    Enter the zip code: 50266)

2. Type in your school email address twice as requested.

Click on Check for Discounts.

3. After a few minutes, check your email for a message from Verizon Wireless Customer Service about Verizon Wireless Discounts.  Click on "Next Step".

4. If it asks you for a zip code again, type in your own if it worked the first time, or, if yours did not work, use 50266 again.     

5. The next webpage will be Start Saving on Plans, Phones and Accessories.  Scroll down for the instructions on how to get your discount for either New Customers or Exiting Customers.

New Customer go to the links:  Pick your Phone, Plan, and Accessories.  Your discount will automatically be applied to what you select and will be reflected in your bill - 18% off your basic Plan, and 25% off equipment and accessories.

Existing Customer, go to the middle column and click on the blue link under Enroll that says "Register Your Line". Provide the info requested, discount may take a couple billing cycles to appear on your Verizon Wireless statement.
