Let the IEC Help Your School Be ‘Germ Free’ This Fall
Fall is a time of year for many wonderful things – the start of a new school year, colorful scenery, and high school football. However, with the arrival of cooler weather just around the corner, many of you may also be gearing up for a season that can be not so wonderful – the cold and flu season. With the outbreak of the H1N1 virus earlier this year, health officials are expecting this bug to come back with a vengeance. Add this to all the work that goes into the precautions of a typical cold and flu season and you can easily suspect that cleanliness and the fight against germs is, and will be, a top priority for schools around the nation.
Lucky for you, the IEC can be just one more link in your armor for protection this fall with the offerings from our two janitorial suppliers – Martin Bros. and Staples. Below are three key tips to help you keep your school protected along with the solutions our vendors can provide.
Tip #1: Clean and disinfect high contact surfaces as frequently as possible. These would include hand rails, door knobs, sinks, faucets, drawer and file handles, vending machines, etc. Staples and Martin Bros. offer a variety of cleaners and disinfectants to suit your needs and preferences for all jobs big and small.
Tip #2: Stress the importance of hand washing, especially after coughing and sneezing. The CDC recommends that students and staff wash hands often with soap and water. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective. Touch-free dispensers for both soap and hand sanitizer are now available through our vendors. In addition, it may also be a good idea to have on-hand or suggest staff to keep on-hand, their own personal sized bottles of the sanitizer. These are available from our vendors as well.
Tip #3: Have gloves, masks and isolation gowns (if necessary) at the ready to help protect your staff and students. Both Staples and Martin Bros. carry a wide selection of these products for your choosing.
With Staples, Martin Bros. and the IEC on your side, cold and flu season doesn’t stand a chance (and won’t break your bank)!
